Today was huge. We finished the sewing studio and showed it to Catherine. I think the look on her face will stay with me forever.
Mental health awareness week. Today, the family and I handed over the keys to a little piece of happiness. A joyous place filled with fabric, threads, haberdashery items, sewing machines, cutting mats and most importantly coffee. This is a significant day in the lives of our little business. It takes sewing under the stairs in a terraced house, to it's very own dedicated sewing studio. A room that today has been filled with love, laughter, and positivity. The children were running circles around the cutting table, playing hangman on the whiteboard, and eating ham sandwiches under the table. Already the memories that have been made here today make this studio a happy place.
As mental health awareness, wellbeing and happiness are at the forefront of our minds this week, we focus our attention on our positive triggers. The things that make us happiest. For Catherine, if you asked her 'to go her happy place' this room is as close as we could have envisaged it. We hope this new sewing studio becomes a little retreat, a place that sparks happy memories, a positive place to be, a room for creativity and an all round feel good space. We look forward to being able to share the sewing studio as we start to offer tuition and small group sewing classes when we bring back 'The Sewing Club'. Exciting times ahead, watch this space...
